Thao Lam

These are my final illustrations for my narrative project. I decided to base my illustrations around the Edward Lear Poem 'The Owl And The Pussycat' because i think it is a beautiful and descriptive poem that i have loved since i was a child. I have chosen to create these pieces using collage taking inspiration from artist such as Thao Lam who has also created collage illustrations. All of these pieces where created using the program Illustrator, and i found all of the materials and textures online. I am very pleased with the way these have turned out i think the technique is very effective and works really well as a children's book illustration.

Anifest poster

Here is my poster for the Canterbury Anifest Show. I have been asked to design something that could be used to advertise the event on posters, flyers or on there website. I created my poster using the program indesign. At the top i have a film reel showing some of the animators work who will be there and at the bottom i have a made an illustration of Saint Augustine's House in Canterbury where the event will be held.

Other Illustrations

Here are a few illustrations i have done in between projects and on side projects. All of these were created using illustrator.

Experimenting with mixed media

Here are some of my experimentation with mixed media when i was trying to come up with a logo for my magazine front cover. Here i have tried ripping, tearing, cutting, scratching, painting, splattering, drawing, rubbing scrunching and rearranging my type to come up with a unique hand made logo.

Packaging Project

Here are my final packaging designs for my Starbucks products. The top one is a box for a tub of strawberry and cream smoothie dipping sauce. The bottom one is a label to go around a bottle of Coffee Flavoured smoothie. I created both of these images using indesign and adding in images and text.

Typography

Here are some examples of my work from my typography project last year. Here i had to create a book cover completely out of type. Above i was trying to create a cover by moving the letters of a word around creating imagery using the letters and the white space. At the top are my cover designs for a vintage type book.

Retro Project

Here are some of my favorite pieces of work from my Retro Poster project. In this project we needed to pick a product and produce a retro poster for it. Here are my retro posters for Heinz baked beans, Levi Jeans, coca cola and my Shepard Fairy style portrait of myself.

Magazine Project

Here are some pieces of work from my magazine project last year. In this project we were to come up with our own magazine and create a front cover and article in our own style.
